silent no more

rules were such that kept us apart,
kept us at odds with our realities.
principles of mind steadied the heart,
puckered the hopes whimpered pleas.

desire no doubt but duty ever present,
left no middle ground to dance in.
until of course, you couldnt keep silent,
wouldn't endure thoughts of could've been.

I for my part cared nothing of pride,
save only the feeling when you chose me.
past yielded, present alive, future bride,
how easy it was to relent a knee.
