taken

like a whisper blossoms out of rosy lips,
like an unveiled gift; seductive in secret,
her eyes spoke to me between poker chips,
elevating me to be among those to see it.

crippling in power; her quiet way,
the game grew to a pleasant surrender.
we both knew who was predator, who prey,
for no one could equal such a contender.

there exists few moments of such bliss,
when first I met lust tamed by love.
heaven, hell, fire, ice in a visual kiss,
taught me everything else was never enough.

from across the table she played the notes,
each card a resonating spade; royal flush.
then quiet smiles as i reached for quotes,
to explain why my face had started to blush.
