Refraction

In an instant perception is bent,
And vision is altered beyond measure.
Light to dark and time no longer sufficient,
The simplest of things can be a pleasure.

By building a world of older souls,
The world became a mirrored vision.
And it pulsed through us like hot coals,
Until nothing could stop love's incision.

And like a ringing note in youthful ears,
Love became a universe of defining principle.
Its presence; permanent through joy and tears,
Its meaning complex and yet profoundly simple.

Look just beyond the glimmer of this existence,
Beyond what you have grown to merely accept.
Deeper down in your heart than dollars and noncents,
Lie possibilities unconscious, unused and unkept.

Can you see the world as a painting in red and blue
As a poetic masterpiece written for you
As an epic and a song?
Now see more than right and wrong
See more than what might seem
Delve deeper
And dream upon a dream

  1. Your writing + "Inception"-themed = the fact that I love this piece.

  2. i watched the movie and decided i had to write something. this was a 10 minute poem. im gonna start writing faster and more. Trying to capture moments instead of conveying some life lesson. i think i do that too much.

  3. This is gorgeous. One of my favorites of your work.

I really like the idea of you just writing poems when they come to you rather than being so calculating about them. It gives a feeling of freedom to your work and, as far as I think, gives your work more depth and personal meaning.
